Your middle school years are both awesome and challenging,
and we want to help you navigate all the ups, downs and changes!

It is so important to regularly make time for your mind as you’re growing up, and we’re here to help you do just that.

Our middle school program involves presentations to faculty and students, as well as an ongoing student wellness club, called a Mindmatters Team, which we support alongside a faculty advisor/champion. In other words, we don’t just do a presentation and then bounce never to see you again! We stay with you and your school community as you establish the student team to help your entire school make mental wellness a routine part of the environment.

Mindmatters Teams meet monthly or bi-weekly, depending on the school. It is both a supportive group to members and an educational group for the larger school community. Teams plan how they will work to reduce stigma and normalize conversations on mental health among their peers as well as how to encourage mental wellness.

Your voice is critical to the team’s success—
because you know what your friends and peers are experiencing every day.

These are just ideas, but your voice about what is needed in your school or community will drive the activities you decide on with your faculty advisor. Shine will help to connect you and your advisor to resources and to stay aware of emerging topics like safe messaging, new research, etc.
